As a Mechanical CAD Engineer based in Columbus, IN, you will join our global design team, including colleagues in Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy, responsible for the design of new or existing products exhaust aftertreatment for diesel and gas engines. In this role you will create complete engineering designs that are translated into CAD models and provide all related documentation in the PDM/ERP system. You will be fully in charge of the product definition, ensuring compliance with customer and Hug Engineering standards. In addition, you will define the product specifications and ensure the design will fulfill these standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Application work for customer projects, supporting sales and project management
- Creation and modification of 3D models and drawings
- Define product specifications and lead design review and DFMEA
- Work according to internal design guidelines
- Communicate with domestic and international customers and suppliers
- Create and maintain technical release and modification documents (PDM)
- Responsible for product family; for example steel housings for SCR/DPF substrates, diesel burners or urea dosing systems
- Participate in R&D and cost optimization projects
- Visit global customers and suppliers
- Support and training within the global engineering team
YOUR PROFILE
- Successfully competed Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or comparable
- Minimum 3 – 5 years of design/ product development experience, preferably in the area of machine construction or comparable
- Knowledge of sheet metal / steel / welding fabrication processes
- Electrical knowledge and e-scheme design capabilities is a plus
- Experience with design standards / guidelines and CAD software
- Willingness to take ownership and drive topics
- Positive mindset and customer focus
- Solution oriented with strong attention to detail
- High degree of independence and reliability.
- International thinking and ability to work in a global environment alongside multicultural teams
- Willingness to travel occasionally (< 10%)
- Fluent in English, additional languages are a plus
