Martin with the kids

A Story of Handball, Team Spirit, and Giving Back

L’azienda

These are moments where the business world can - and should - pause. Because what matters most is not just what we build, but the positive impact we can create in other people’s lives. Especially in the lives of children, whose time is often filled with challenges, and who deserve every chance to laugh, play, and feel part of something bigger.

From an Icebreaker to the Handball Court

Last year, our colleague Thomas Ebeling inspired us all with the story of Karl, the little icebreaker, and with his heartfelt fundraising campaign for the children’s hospice in Magdeburg. His initiative showed how creativity and compassion can go hand in hand with engineering.

This year, another beautiful chapter was added - this time on the handball court. Our colleague Martin Kühnel volunteers his time twice a week as a handball coach for a local mini team of young kids. Through the sport, Martin helps them discover the joy of movement, teamwork, and fair play. To make the experience even more special, Hug Engineering donated team t-shirts so the children could feel like part of a real team. Their smiles said it all - the jerseys weren’t just clothing, but a symbol of belonging, pride, and joy.

New Ways, One Spirit

Whether it’s Thomas supporting children and families in palliative care through fundraising, or Martin helping healthy kids grow through sport, the spirit is the same: giving back, each in their own way. Together, these initiatives show that our Hug Germany team is committed to making a difference - not only through technology, but also through human connection.

Looking Ahead

We are proud of colleagues like Thomas, Martin, and so many others who dedicate their time and energy to causes close to their hearts. Their actions remind us that small gestures can have a big impact, and that true success is measured not only in projects completed, but in the lives we touch along the way.
