Meet Ava Lumpisch

Building the Future - One Talent at a Time: Meet Ava Lumpisch

About us

At Hug Engineering, we believe in investing in young talent, providing them with the right tools, guidance, and hands-on experience to grow both professionally and personally. One of the great examples of this is Ava Lumpisch, a commercial apprentice in her second year of training, who has already made a strong impression within the company.

Learning Through Experience

Ava began her apprenticeship at Hug Engineering a year ago, rotating through different departments to gain a broad understanding of the company’s operations. She has already worked in Order Management, Quality, and Procurement, each of which has given her valuable insights into different aspects of the business.

  • Order Management introduced her to colleagues from various teams, helping her build connections across the company.
  • Quality gave her a deeper appreciation for Hug Engineering’s products and processes, allowing her to understand the level of detail and precision required in our work.
  • Procurement has been an exciting challenge, teaching her about supplier relations and the importance of strong partnerships in the industry.

Through these rotations, Ava has experienced firsthand how different functions within the company work together to drive success.

A Smooth Transition to Professional Life

Moving from school to the workplace can be a big adjustment, but for Ava, the transition felt natural. "I’m a hands-on learner, so adjusting to working life was smooth for me," she says. With three days a week at Hug Engineering and two days at business school in Winterthur, she has found the perfect balance between practical learning and theoretical knowledge.

Hug Engineering's supportive environment has played a big role in making this transition easy.

"As an apprentice, you receive great support and guidance. The people at Hug are friendly and great to work with, always willing to help, which creates a positive atmosphere."

This culture of collaboration and mentorship is something we take pride in, ensuring that young professionals like Ava feel valued and empowered from day one.

Team Spirit - On and Off the Field

Beyond her work at Hug Engineering, Ava is deeply passionate about football. She has played as a goalkeeper for some of Switzerland’s top clubs, including Winterthur, FCZ Frauen, GC Frauen, and Aarau Frauen. While she no longer competes at a professional level, she still plays for fun and has taken on a coaching role as a goalkeeper trainer. Her experience in competitive sports has shaped her mindset - discipline, teamwork, and perseverance are qualities she brings to her work every day.

"Football has taught me how important it is to stay focused, work as a team, and always look for ways to improve. I see the same principles in my work at Hug Engineering."

Looking Ahead

As Ava continues her apprenticeship, she is excited to explore more areas of the business and build on her experience. With a strong support system at Hug Engineering and her natural curiosity and drive, there’s no doubt she has a bright future ahead.

At Hug Engineering, we’re proud to nurture young talent and provide them with the opportunities they need to succeed. Whether in the office, on the production floor, or out in the field, we believe that investing in the next generation is key to shaping the future of our industry. And with dedicated individuals like Ava, the future looks promising.
