Hug Engineering and Scania to enter in a partnership offering IMO Tier III solutions.
- First partnership of Hug Engineering with Scania on its largest marine engines.
- Scania completes its IMO Tier III engine portfolio with a tailormade Hug Engineering Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems within 12 months.
- Available to the global Scania network and first systems already sold.
In order to complete its IMO Tier III emission standard portfolio Scania cooperates with Hug Engineering for its largest marine engines. The main drivers for this collaboration were Hug Engineering’s robust and well known aftertreatment solutions offering minimal time to market.
With Hug Engineering, Scania has chosen state of the art Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems for its largest marine engine of up to 640kW power output. Scania’s IMO III compliant version of the DI16 engine will be available for both propulsion as well as auxiliary applications. These systems equip high-speed patrol vessels, ferries, fishing vessels and workboats.
Hug Engineering supports engine manufacturers by offering a validated portfolio of aftertreatment solutions that can easily be adapted to fit to various applications and meet the most stringent certifications while maintaining customization flexibility. Minimum lead times are ensured thanks to Hug Engineering’s modular design built out of high-quality components. Unmatched reliability and performance are achieved through applying Hug Engineering’s air assisted dosing technology while the modularity of the SCR components allowed optimal sizing to address the full output range of Scania’s DI16 engine. After less than one year, Scania now owns the DNV certificate for this combined solution complying with IMO Tier III.
Scania and Hug Engineering are proud to share this partnership and to have a compliant standardized solution available to Scania’s broad marine engine distributors network around the world. Enabling their end customers to sail anywhere around the world. The market appreciation of this partnership is proven with more than 30 systems already sold, within one month after certification. First deliveries are planned for the end of this year.
