Milestone for emission reduction on quick start and flexible power generation
Hug Engineering has received an order to supply the emission control systems for two power plants for a city in northern Florida, U.S.
The scope of supply involves the unique combiKat emission control solution for engines and will be delivered to the two power plants that have a total capacity of around 100 MW. Both plants make use of medium speed engines that use natural gas as fuel.
Flexible power generation and load following in combination with low emissions is a unique selling point for our customers. With our equipment, the power plants are able to maintain low emissions while balancing the electric grid. This enables a flexible power generation and permits the use of more renewable power.
One of the plants will be equipped with two gas engines and will be located in the heart of the city. It will support the electric grid that supplies power to a hospital, public buildings, communities, and commercial sites.
The other power plant consists of larger spark ignited engines and replaces the gas fired generating unit at the existing power station on the outskirts of the city. The new plant improves the fuel efficiency as compared to the discontinued plant.
The emission abatement systems for these two power plants continue the list of successfully delivered projects to the U.S.
During the last 15 years, Hug Engineering has built-up a well-established record in the USA with over 600 emission control systems in the Americas alone. The total number of Hug SCR-installations for power generation, cogeneration, greenhouses and renewables exceeds 4000 worldwide.
