CIMAC 2025 Reflections: At the Heart of the Industry’s Future
Every three years, the global engine community gathers at the CIMAC World Congress - the industry’s most prestigious platform for advancing large engine technology. This year, CIMAC 2025 took place in Zurich, and Hug Engineering was proud to take part not just as an exhibitor, but as an active voice in the conversation about the future of emissions control, alternative fuels, and engine aftertreatment systems.
Over the course of an intensive and inspiring week, Hug Engineering used this opportunity to present our technologies, share our expertise, and connect with customers, partners, and thought leaders from around the world. From meaningful technical discussions to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour, our participation was as rich as it was rewarding.

Taking Center Stage with Technical Leadership
A major highlight of the week was the active role our engineering team played in the CIMAC technical program. Across five expert presentations, our specialists shared practical insights and innovation-driven findings from the field. Topics included:
- 505 – Ultra-low emission vessel field experience
- 507 – Hydrogen combustion engine exhaust gas aftertreatment
- 508 – Methanol combustion engine exhaust gas aftertreatment
- 509 – Ammonia combustion engine exhaust gas aftertreatment
- 514 – Medium speed engine oils optimized for ultra low emission profiles
With a strong focus on decarbonization, ultra-low emissions, and the practical deployment of multi-fuel systems, our contributions resonated deeply with the industry audience - highlighting Hug Engineering’s place at the forefront of exhaust aftertreatment technology.
A Booth That Became a Hub
Throughout the week, our booth at Stand 103 was buzzing with energy. Following the interest sparked by our presentations, we welcomed a steady flow of engineers, decision-makers, and project leaders - all eager to learn more about Hug Engineering’s solutions for:
- Power generation
- Mission-critical installations (e.g. data centers)
- Marine vessels (workboats, offshore applications)
- Luxury yachts and bespoke aftertreatment integrations
Whether it was our modular SCR and DPF systems, our approach to long service intervals, or our real-world experience with new fuels, the dialogue was meaningful, technical, and full of potential. The conversations we had at the booth laid the groundwork for future collaborations - and reminded us just how connected this industry truly is.

An Impressive Tour at Hug Headquarters
To conclude the CIMAC week, Hug Engineering hosted one of the official technical tours on Friday - welcoming 172 international participants to our headquarters in Elsau, Switzerland.
Guests were guided through our R&D facilities, testing center, and production site, gaining a full picture of how Hug Engineering turns advanced concepts into robust, scalable emission solutions. Feedback from visitors was overwhelmingly positive, and many highlighted the strength of our in-house capabilities and our commitment to quality across every project phase.
Looking Ahead with Confidence
CIMAC 2025 offered much more than visibility - it gave us a stage to demonstrate leadership, engage in future-focused conversations, and position Hug Engineering as a trusted partner in the drive toward cleaner, more efficient combustion.
We return from this congress energized and inspired - with even greater confidence in the direction we’re heading, and in the power of our technologies to shape what’s next in aftertreatment systems, emissions compliance, and clean engine performance.
